Applications for Coach for College are Now Open

Applications for Coach for College, a three-week summer service program, are now open! The deadline to apply is Sunday, March 21st.

Coach for College is a program open to varsity student-athletes, including graduating seniors, which aims to increase higher education attainment among disadvantaged Vietnamese adolescents through teaching, coaching and mentorship. While the three-week program traditionally takes place in rural Vietnam, this year’s program will be conducted virtually.

The PVC will sponsor up to (7) student-athletes to take advantage of this program during the summer of 2021, and will cover the full cost of participation. While the program will not include travel to Vietnam, a benefit of the virtual offering is that all of the live instruction work will take place over Zoom in the evenings (starting at 8:00pm ET), and thus the program can be done in concert with summer classes or another internship. This virtual format was piloted with student-athletes from Duke and Stanford over the winter, and they found the virtual teaching, coaching and cultural exchanges with their Vietnamese counterparts incredibly rewarding.

Three separate camp sessions are offered, with the dates of each noted below.

  • May 30 – June 18
  • June 27 – July 16
  • July 25 – August 13

Applications will be reviewed by the Coach for College program and members of the Princeton Athletic Department, with formal offers extended to selected student-athletes by the end of March.
