By far, the most important aspect of my Princeton experience was the unique opportunity I had to play for Pete Carril. Of all my college experiences, it is the one I value the most because Coach Carril was one of the best teachers I have ever had.
His recitations about the rewards of hard work, teamwork, discipline and patience significantly shaped my views well beyond basketball and into life. Among other things, my stock market and basketball worlds became inextricably linked at Princeton and I trace the underpinnings of my firm’s investment philosophy and corporate culture to the uncompromising pursuit of excellence I saw each and every day in my coach.
