Princeton Athletics Hosts National Girls & Women in Sports Day Youth Clinic

Each year the entire sports industry comes together to celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments of women and girls in sports. February brings the celebration of National Girls & Women in Sports Day – an entire day dedicated to the athletes, coaches, and women administrators who continue to trailblaze new paths within the industry.

To mark this special occasion, the PVC and Princeton Athletics teamed up on Saturday, February 11th to host their annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) Youth Clinic. This free clinic provides an opportunity for Princeton female student-athletes to interact and mentor children from the greater Princeton community while bonding over their shared love for athletics. Among the nearly 200 clinic attendees were several community groups, including children from Let Her Play – a nonprofit organization founded by Princeton alumnae Gia Fruscione ’00 that is dedicated to empowering young girls through sports.

Nearly 100 female student-athletes volunteered to help coach the clinic, representing a wide variety of Tiger women’s teams. Jadwin Gym and its indoor track were transformed into 10 sports stations, where the student-athletes taught fundamental skills and techniques associated with their sports. After enjoying the fun one-hour clinic with the Tigers, the children and their families then watched Princeton women’s basketball defeat Dartmouth in a 64-47 victory.
