The Princeton Varsity Club gathered its PVC supporters and members of the Princeton Athletics community on campus for its Fall Coaches Luncheon on Tuesday, October 4th.
Ford Family Director of Athletics, John Mack ’00 opened the event with remarks and highlights from recent department fall programming and commemorative celebrations. Bob Surace ’90 (football), Josie Ziluca (rugby), Steve Totten (men’s soccer) and Carla Tagliente (field hockey) also addressed the crowd and shared updates on their respective programs and 2022 seasons to-date.

The event also included a panel conversation with four fall season student-athletes – including Leilani Bender ’24 (rugby), Hannah Davey ’23 (field hockey), Lucas Gen ’23 (men’s soccer) and Uche Ndukwe ’23 (football) – moderated by Associate Director of Athletics for the Princeton Varsity Club and Advancement, Brendan Van Ackeren. The Tigers shared their unique journeys to Princeton, perspectives on leadership and their experiences as team captains, and how the department’s tenants of Achieve, Serve, Lead and Education Through Athletics have shaped and characterized their respective student-athlete experiences.
We encourage you to view a photo gallery from the event, as well as video highlights from the student-athlete panel conversation.
As part of the luncheon, Hannah Davey ’23 (field hockey) and Michael Ruttlen, Jr. ’23 (football) were recognized as the fall season recipients of the PNC Bank Student-Athlete Achiever Award. This award is presented to student-athletes who have achieved academically and athletically and have made a positive impact in the community.
