Tiger Student-Athletes shine at PVC Winter Coaches Luncheon

The Princeton Varsity Club held its Winter Coaches Luncheon on Tuesday, February 21st, where a selection of winter head coaches and accompanying student-athletes gathered to speak with university and community partners.

Those teams in attendance included men’s and women’s basketball, men’s ice hockey and women’s track and field. Each featured head coach, including Courtney Banghart (women’s basketball),Β Michelle EisenreichΒ (women’sΒ track and field), Ron FogartyΒ (men’s ice hockey) andΒ Mitch Henderson ’98Β (men’s basketball) highlighted their respective 2016-17 squads, provided updates on theirΒ winter season to date and spoke to their program’s role inΒ Princeton Athletic Department’s core values of Achieve, Serve and Lead.

Additionally, student-athletes from each respective team were invited to speakΒ to their Princeton experience and the opportunities Princeton Athletics has afforded them to Achieve, Serve and LeadΒ through athletic competition, in the classroom and beyond. Featured student-athletes included:

  • Women’s Basketball –Β Vanessa Smith ’17
  • Men’sΒ Ice HockeyΒ –Β Ryan Siiro ’17
  • Men’s BasketballΒ – Devin Cannady ’19Β 
  • Women’s Track and Field –Β Elisa Steele ’17

The luncheon also recognized two student-athletes who were awarded the PNC Achiever Award for the winter season, which acknowledges and recognizes achievement across academics, athletics and community service. Those winners included:

  • Men’s FencingΒ –Β Wesley Johnson ’19
  • Women’s Ice HockeyΒ – Fiona McKenna ’17Β
